Group Exhibition Address
Guild House, 30-32 Worple Road, Wimbledon SW19 4EF
The Guild’s art groups and organisation as a whole aims to keep older people active and engaged. They work to reduce social isolation and loneliness, and help people who are experiencing difficulties across Merton. They run clubs, classes, talks and trips, have a wonderful HomeFood Café and Talking Therapy service. Wimbledon Guild was founded in 1907 and its vision has remained the same since the beginning: ‘We want people in Merton to lead happy and fulfilled lives.’
Our Monday art group is informal and self led. Using their own materials, some sketch, some use pen and ink, and others use oils and acrylics. Our artists are all older adults and come for the chance to unwind and express themselves in a warm and welcoming environment. It’s a chance to meet like-minded people and forge new friendships with others who share their passion. Our Tuesday group are also older adults and is led by a volunteer who inspires the artists to further improve their talent with the inclusion of some craft projects, providing gentle guidance to each student. Classes are fun and sociable. And there is always time for tea and biscuits as well!
