Personal statement

Julie Doyle was born and educated in London. Her career as a teacher began in West London and later took her to Portugal, Switzerland, Mexico and Spain. Throughout and alongside my teaching I had a Dual Career as a Muralist creating murals in hospitals, clinics, schools, nurseries and private houses. On leaving teaching,I was able to give more time to my life-long passion: Art- :working in oils as well as acrylic;then in watercolour while illustrating children’s picture books,. Making mosaics and lino-prints. Most recently I have been concentrating on Pebble Mosaics and Garden Design .(‘Creative Garden Design’Tel..07745393091)

Artistic Statement

I work in a variety of media including watercolour, oils, acrylics, and pastels. I also draw (in pencil, pen and pastel) and make prints, and mosaics .. My work is mostly realistic and,as well as landscapes, ‘The Sea’ is a theme that runs through much of my painting. The wild seas of Cornwall have been a particular inspiration to me, and trying to capture the colour , light and drama of its coastline continues to excite me. Working recently in pastels has also allowed me to experiment with light and tone. At the moment I have been extending my mosaic work into the garden by creating Pebble Mosaics and designing gardens. Exhibitions have been mostly in Southern Spain and also Kingston, Surrey.
